16 months post, Rough Week, Nonnie Visits, and Austin Zoo!

  • Harris you are 16 months - 9 days ago.

  • You weigh 18.9 lbs (-3%), Height 30in (10%), Head 47.5 (50-75%). Still very small with a big brain! What you are up to:

  • You love bubbles (and can say the word very well),

  • You are really into climbing - especially in and out of the chairs - you are so proud of yourself.

  • You love animals - especially on youtube. Before kids I would have wondered why anyone would film their cows mooing or pigs oinking, sheep baaing, etc - BUT now I know!!! Toddlers love to watch it! You point to the computer and say "Moo".That means "mommy turn on youtube to the cows mooing".

  • You eat French toast for breakfast or apple poptarts, Lunch is usually hotdog, chicken, turkey, or ground beef, peas or greenbeans, sweet potatoes, and apples or blueberries, or grapes. Snack is a PB&J and banana, and dinner about the same as lunch. Still not a good eater! Would rather eat fruit all day and raisins. And you love French Fries and wendys hamburger - we treat you once a week. (that's usually the best meal you eat)

  • Love to stroll around the block.

  • Words: Bubbles, Hot, Elmo (love to watch Sesame Street), All the animal sounds, up, out, dog poop, hot dog, Reece, Remi, nigh night, that's all I can think of for now..

We went to the Zoo this weekend. The Austin Zoo is really not a zoo but a non profit rescue facility for abandoned animals. You really soaked everything in. You liked the sheep, the goats, the pigs, and the wooden duck! Mommy really enjoyed seeing the Molly the lion trying to get back into her house that the zoo keepers were cleaning (she really worked at pawing the door). They also had bears, tigers, prairie dogs, and lots of monkeys. Next time Nonnie comes to town we will have to take her!

Daddy and you with the duck! You saw it first and said " duck". You love ducks.

Hanging out in the stroller - it was hot, even for April! Will have to go at 6am in the summer! You LOVE the dishwasher, we try to load the dishes when you aren't looking, because you love to grab the silverware and run... not the safest thing. We have decided to hand wash all the knives because too many times we look away and you of course grab the sharpest objects!

Dinner with DJ, Taylor, and Nonnie

You and Taylor in the sandbox

Taylor pushing you - this was funny because she barely could reach the swing!

We had a rough past week with being sick! It started with allergies and then turned to an ear infection with a stopped up tube, 103.5 temp for 2 days. Nonnie had to come take care of you so we could go to work and you basically stopped eating for a week. And of course this would happen to you.... 5-15% of children who are vaccinated with the measles virus get a measles rash - and you were one of them! To end the rough week, you got the measles rash, had to be out of daycare again, and then were put on an antibiotic that gave you horrible diarrhea. Your great sleeping went away - we were loving the sleeping through the night! Now you literally are skin and bones, you are soo skinny! We wish you would love to eat and be a chunky baby!

Hopefully you will have a better week!

Rodeo Time!

You had a great time at the Rodeo! You got to see all your favorite animals! They even had a lemur exhibit which was fun to see! We watched the pig races, checked out the petting zoo, checked out the goats that were being groomed for showing, and ate some fair food -your favorite was the corn dog!

Goodbye Alimentum!!!! We will not miss your awful smell and pretty price (one of the most expensive on the market)! Yeah monthly raise!
you love to sit on the counter tops and play that you are making a bottle and warming it. Always something in your mouth, either a pacy or something that is not supposed to be in your mouth. We often put a pacy in your mouth when we are outside to prevent dirty things from going in your mouth!

you have a fascination with putting things on your head???

this goat was getting ready to be groomed.

not so afraid of the cows this time!

Practicing muttin-bustin.

A trip to the Ranch
Harris you love to look at your books and point to all the animals. Your favorites are cow, pig, horse, monkey, dog, cat, goat, sheep, and chicken. And you love to make their sounds. We took a trip to the ranch and you got to see a few in person. You were not so sure of the cows - you would climb across the car far away from them. It was funny for you to hear them "moo" in real life and not mommy and daddy making the sounds. You love to make the "moo" sound. We had a nice trip just the 3 of us. It was just a little hard cleaning the house and taking care of at the same time - very tiring for 2 pple!

you were funny with your bucket. After awhile we figured out what you were doing. You were acting as if it was your purse. You would pick it up and wave and say "Bye". You were copying mommy with her purse and leaving the house. Too funny!

looking at the cows

this is a part of the morning routine. We set you down on the couch and run around to feed the dog (b/c of course they think they still come first) and make your bottle (yes you still have a morning bottle at 15 months!). And when we look at the couch their is a little head watching us!

Couple of Photos of what you LOVE to do!

Harris you love to play in the backyard! The new thing is the shed! You love to go in the shed and lock you and the dogs inside??? THe poor dogs are like "why do we have to stay in here".

Goodbye Brown Boots!! We loved you!!!!! These were the best shoes! We got so many complements on them! But they STANK! We are also a little glad to see them go, yes your baby feet get really stinky! We had to alcohol your feet one time when the bath didnt get the smell off! Thats when we knew it was time to go! Seriously thought about buying a new pair, but warm wheather is around the corner!

Trucking around the yard on Little Bears Trail....
Lovin on Reece

Being funny in your PJ's.

Playing in the dogs water! Reece doesn't understand why she can't drink in peace! Someone loves to put items in her waterbowl and splash around!

The duck pond! We are so thankful this place is literally 5 minutes away! A little pond that has a duck community. You love to say "quack quack" and point to ducks in your books!

Here you are eating the bread for the ducks!

15 months and the past few months

15 months and a trip to Lady Wild Flower Center

The Lady Wild Flower Center is right around the corner to us and the month of January was free admittance. So we made a trip to cruise around the gardens and check it out! Everything was dead since it was January, but we had a fun time with you!

Checking out the gardens

15 months!

What you are up to:

  • You love to play in the water. You are always placing things in the dogs water bucket and splahing around.

  • You are not sleeping well again. You have had 4 molars come in the past month. 2 on top and 2 on bottom. Now you have a total of 12 teeth!
  • We had another ear infection and just getting over a case of the stomach bug! (Also using this to keep tract of the sickness - most likely getting your adnoids out in the future.)

  • you love to go outside! We come in the backdoor and you point to the frontdoor to go out there!

  • you love your animal books and love mama and dada to make all the animal noises!

  • You are starting to climb and laugh when you are up on something!

  • Weight: 18.13lbs - still very small and 0%. This weight was checked after 3 days of the stomach bug - so I bet you lost a lb. We will never be able to turn the car seat around! Hoping that in a month we will when we take you for your 15 month check they will tell us you are 20lbs!!!

14 Months

Okay so here goes. I am starting this blog to document your moments since the babybook hasn't been touched since you were 4 months! Things will be out of order in the beginning b/c I am going to try and go back and post about your birthday, etc.

Harris you are 14 months, actually 14 1/2!

What you are up to:
  • You love to play with the I-pad - Daddy downloaded Peter Rabbit and Peekabo books that you can touch and move the rabbits and animals.
  • Love rolling and laying on Reece - we tell you to "love on Reece", you love her dog bed as much as she does.
  • Love, love going outside! We have had a very cold January and we have had to stay in more than you would like.
  • You love to get in the dogs water bowl. We have to keep it up and the dogs are having to drink water outside or little bear will sneak into the bathroom - yuck!
  • You love playing with your cousins! We have gotten to play with Taylor a few times this month and she is great entertainment for you!
  • You are loving hitting things with your toys. You will pick up a toy and hit it against the tile or any surface that will make a loud noise! There goes my furniture - ha!
  • You are a BIG TALKER - and everyone tells us that - we think its normal b/c your the only one! One afternoon I picked you up at daycare early and everyone was still there and you were just walking around talking and talking (your own language). They tell us you love to stand up on the big mat and "preach". I don't think I heard the other kids say a peep! Just like Daddy - don't let anyone else get a word in - ha!
  • Words that you are repeating (I can't think of them all, you really are talking a lot right now. You repeat a lot that we say, but don't say it on your own.) Hot - the big word right now, especially since we have the logs on a lot. No - also a big word we hear many many times a day. Reece, Remi, Mama, Dada, Pop - ugh Daddy and Nonnie should have never let you have a sip - we have to hide our sodas from you!
  • You are sick every 2-3 weeks, with an ear infection, stomach bug, Roseola, etc. You name it you have gotten it!
  • You finally like to be read to. I thought the I would never be able to read a book to you! Until now you wouldn't sit in our laps for even a minute with a book - you are so active. You love to get your books and bring them to us. Most of the time it is right before nap time and bed time, when you are getting tired and ready to slow down. At school they tell us you love the reading center and will sit on the little couch and read the books.
